PROJECTS

Here you can find a selection of projects I have worked on

Here Be Monsters

Here Be Monsters was social MMO inspired by games such as Farmville and Animal Crossing. The player explored the world, trapping monsters from real world mythology. They would collect ingredients from trapping, farming and fishing, and use these to craft anything from food, new traps, or even buildings and decorations for their homestead.

My role on this project centred around researching and writing quest content for the game. This was quite an involved process which involved the following:

  • Researching mythological creatures and items
  • Creating characters and writing dialogue
  • Briefing artists on new assets needed for the quests
  • Designing and set dressing new areas for the game
  • Implimentation of the quests and all associated data, using in house tools

Twisted Tales

Twisted Tales was a reskin of a 20 vs 20 Guild based card game called Kizna, which at the time was one of the top grossing mobile games in Japan. It was decided we would do a complete reskin of the game, with a new theme of 'Twisted Fairy Tales'.

My role on this project focussed on understanding and documenting the game mechanics, and then rebalancing them for a Western audience. Some of my tasks on this title included:

  • Creation of the world and story of the game
  • Researching fairy tale characters and creating art briefs which showed their story via the card evolution mechanic
  • Improving and rebalancing the design of game features for a Western audience

Wordalot

Wordalot is a word puzzle game where players solve crosswords, using pictures as their clues.

Working on this game was very different to my previous work, as it involved working on a game in a Live Ops capacity, rather than an in development title. This work included:

  • Sourcing and editing images to be used as game content
  • Creating and balancing the crossword puzzles associated with each image
  • Analysing game metrics such as retention and monetisation and optimising game content to improve said metrics
